Every cafe in our directory operates with cats on-site for customer interaction, true cat cafes, not pet stores or regular coffee shops. We focus on establishments that partner with local rescues and prioritize cat welfare. Whether you are traveling to a new city and want to spend an afternoon with cats, looking for a unique family outing, or hoping to adopt your own rescue cat, CafeWithCat helps you discover cat cafes that are ethical, welcoming, and committed to feline welfare.

Our Story

CafeWithCat was born from a single afternoon that changed everything.

A couple of years ago, we walked into CatCafe Lounge on Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles. We had heard about cat cafes but had never actually visited one. Within minutes, we understood what all the fuss was about. We grabbed wand toys and played with curious tabbies. We held purring cats in our laps while sipping lattes. We watched a shy orange kitten finally find the courage to approach my wife, a moment that perfectly captured why these spaces matter.

CatCafe Lounge is a non-profit that has facilitated over 2,000 cat adoptions since opening in 2018. Every cat there is a rescue waiting for a home. That visit planted a seed in us: not just the desire to visit more cat cafes, but a deeper appreciation for the work these establishments do. They give overlooked cats a chance to shine in a calm, loving environment where potential adopters can truly get to know them.

We left that afternoon talking about someday getting a cat of our own.

Meet Our Mascot

A year later, we found ourselves scrolling through the Pasadena Humane Society website. One poor kitten in need caught our attention.

At the Shelter

Her name was Pickle. She had been found with another kitten named Dill, and someone at the shelter clearly had a sense of humor. A lynx point Siamese with striking blue eyes. Her listing photo showed a face covered in ringworm fungus, patchy fur, and a look that somehow managed to be both pitiful and hopeful. We felt she may have been overlooked due to how she looked. The notes mentioned she had also come in with fleas and a severe sinus infection. She was still recovering when we first met her in person.

We did not hesitate. We knew immediately that she was coming home with us.

The first few weeks required patience: a special pink recovery suit to protect her spay stitches, daily antibiotics for her sinus infection (she sneezed constantly), and lots of gentle reassurance as she healed from the ringworm. But she trusted us from day one. She would curl up on our laps even when she was still itchy and uncomfortable, purring like an engine.

Coming Home

Today, she is fully recovered. Her coat is sleek and beautiful. She spends her afternoons perched on the windowsill watching birds, her evenings sprawled across the couch demanding attention, and her nights curled up at the foot of our bed. She went from an overlooked shelter listing to the queen of our household.

Today

She is now more than just our cat. She is the face of CafeWithCat. That's her in our logo, a lynx point Siamese curled up in a coffee cup. You'll also spot her on our homepage, nose-deep in a steaming mug. She went from a shelter listing to the official mascot of a directory dedicated to helping other cats find their happy endings.

Our Mission

Connecting Cat Lovers with Cat Cafes

CafeWithCat exists to help people have meaningful experiences with cats at cat cafes and to give cats the opportunity to find loving homes.

Every visit to a cat cafe supports rescue work. Every adoption changes two lives: the cat's and the adopter's. We saw it happen at CatCafe Lounge. We lived it with our own rescue. And we hope this directory helps you experience that magic too.
